I will be creating four posters for my E4 reality show
‘Student Swap’. The style of my reality show is having students with different
economic backgrounds swap lifestyles. Whilst creating my posters for this show,
I will be guided by the institutions that are responsible for broadcasting
shows like the one I’m making. E.g. the advertising Standards authority and E4.
All four posters will adhere to the ASA’s (advertising
standards authority) rules and guidelines for print advertising. This means
that my posters will not include nudity or drug use and will not encourage
damaging behaviour e.g. violence. My posters will also be made clear to be
advertisements and won’t be misleading as they will include the word
‘programme’ and I will add the E4 logo onto each poster.
My adverts must also appeal to the E4 audience and match
their ethos as they are the broadcasters of my reality show. E4’s main
demographic is 16-24 ear olds and my adverts will include this age group,
therefore targeting E4’s audience. I think my reality show would be shown
before watershed (broadcast after 9pm) as the content will be suitable for most
ages as it won’t include sexual content, violence, graphic/distressing imagery
or swearing.
The people included in my reality show are meant to be
university students so roughly 18-23-year olds. This age group is also a major
part of the target audience meaning they will be represented in a positive but
relatable way to make the show more appealing to this audience. Throughout all
my posters, I will try to show the students to be academic and creative. I will
keep this in mind when photographing people for my posters so that my images
reflect the ethos of E4 and accurately advertise the reality show.
The target audience for my show and adverts will be 16-23-year
olds to match the target audience of E4 and will mostly be women due to the
people included in the cast of my programme.
